Special Educational Resource Centre – SERC

SERC is the essential resource centre for parents and education professionals requiring information about any special needs education issues.

SERC provides

*individual assessments for pupils with complex needs

*training for school staff and support agencies

*support and advice for parents of children who have special    educational needs

They can be found at: http://redbridgeserc.org

The team comes into school, as required,  and helps to develop a programme to support our children. The strategies being taught in the sessions help the pupils become more focused and to concentrate for longer periods of time. In working with the pupils we can see that their posture and core stability are improving and they enjoy the sessions.

Speech & Language Therapy Service

The Redbridge Speech and Language Therapy Service supports children in Redbridge with language and communication needs. At New Rush Hall School children with speech and language therapy written into their Statement of Special Educational Needs are seen for assessment and review of their speech and language programmes. The therapist is able to provide support in terms of:

*       Helping school set up specific groups

*       A programme of activities for the school

*       Advice and strategies

The service also supports schools by:

*       Offering training to school staff

*       Modelling specific strategies and activities to school staff

*       Providing resources and activity ideas for the school to use

*       Joint working with class teachers and assistants in the class setting
